ABSENCES

Students that miss more than twenty days during the school year will have all credit withdrawn from each class that they miss. Students are required to bring a note from parents for any absence. If the student misses more than three consecutive days, a note from a physician and the parents must be provided to the school. If the note is not turned in within two school days the absence will be considered unexcused; therefore, an assignments/tests/quizzes given  during the absence will receive zeros. If the student is not at school or on a school related function, then the student is absent. The will be NO EXCEPTIONS to this policy. Check-outs are counted as absences. The Principal and the Board of Directors reserves the right to review any case that may arise.

PRE-APPROVED ABSENCES

Administration strongly discourages pre-approved absences. Each request will be considered with the best interest of the student’s academic progress. The school calendar should be utilized for planning purposes. A written request must be submitted to the administration a minimum of three(3) school days prior to the absence. Pre-approved absences shall not exceed five(5) school days. Any days over five (5) will be considered unexcused and will be counted as such. Unexcused absences will result in zeros for all graded work during the absence. Pre-approved absences will still count toward the twenty allowed for the school year. Students are responsible for work done during pre-approved absences. It is the student’s responsibility to get assignments prior to the absence. These assignments are due upon
the student’s return. Any test that is given during the pre-approved absence must be made up on the second day returning to school.

TARDY POLICY

Punctuality is a character trait we are seeking to instill in our students. Parents are encouraged to assist in making sure that students are prompt in arriving and departing from school. School begins at 7:30 a.m.; arrival after 7:35 a.m. will be considered a tardy. Students arriving late to school must obtain a pass from the office to enter the
classroom. Tardies will be excused only in emergency situations. Unexcused tardies may result in the following:
1. After 3 unexcused tardies– Warning from the teacher.
2. After 4 unexcused tardies– Phone call/note from administration.
3. For every 5 unexcused tardies a student will be assigned one unexcused absence
from school.
